Edmeston

So we had a great time in Edmeston.  If you don't know where that it, it is in the middle of New York state, about ah hour and a half southeast of Syracuse. It takes about a full day of travel to get there.  We left the house around 8 to get to the airport for our flight at 10:50.  We flew to Newark NJ and had baout an hour or so layover.  When we got to Newark we went to the gate that they had said on the ticket, but when we got there the lady told us the had changed it. So we had to go out back through security and into a different part of the terminal.  However, when we went back through security the metal detector did not like Russell.  He went through it about 3 times before they pulled him aside to give him the full pat down.  Apparently it was the little rivets on his jeans.  I was laughing, but it was jsut weird since we had literally been through security twice already and once just 5 minutes before.  Another thing about the Newark airport is apparently it does not have airconditioner- so it was toasty waiting for the plane, which was of course delayed.  We got to Syracuse about 45 minutes late, and then the GPS definitely took us the back way there.  But we made it a little before 9 pm.

Edmeston is about 30 minutes from Cooperstown so we went to the Baseball Hall of Fame on Friday.  Cooperstown isn't much bigger than Edmeston, but has a lot more baseball memorabilia shops. lol.  On Saturday Russell's aunt and uncle came down from Utica (I think) and had lunch.  His grandpa ordered a lasagna and when he brought it home it was enough to feed probably 20 people, it wouldn't even fit in the oven.  So we had to do a little lasagna transplant into smaller pans.  Russell's Grandpa has a 1929 Ford Model T.  So Russell got to drive that around for a bit.  I didn't since I dont' know how to drive a standard (reason number 9283 that Russell should have taught me a long time ago).  Doug, Russell's uncle, has an old Mustang (not sure of the year) and they went out in that, but it wasn't running that well.

Our flight again was at 10, and so we had to leave around 7 to get back to the airport in time.  This time we took the more direct route that we should have used when we came.  We had a great time with his grandparents and can't wait to go back soon.  We had a 4 hour layover in Cleveland, very boring-lol.  But we finally made it home around 6ish, in time to see the Ags lose in over time (heartbreaker).

his grandparents church (I think it's Second Baptist church- so apparently it's big enough for two baptist churches- go figure lol)

Halfway Over :(

Spring Break is almost half way over :(

My parents come on Saturday morning.  We went to play putt putt on Saturday afternoon.  It was a lot of fun, but I did awful.  Normally, I do my share of 6's but normally at least get one or two hole in ones.  Not this time, i did more than my share of 6's, and no hole in ones.  Dad did well the first 9 but on the back 9 he lost his lead and fell all the way into last place (and yes I know that he appreciates me saying this-lol).  Mom won, slow and steady wins the race!  On Saturday night we had dinner with all our parents, and Tony.

On Sunday we were low on attendance at church, and so mom and dad had to help us tear down.  We appreciated the help.  We went over to Clinta and Tim's, where most all our cousins were there as well as the babies.  Poor Brady didn't want anything to do with it, and cried most the whole time.  Oliva just sat there with this cute smile on my face almost saying "i'm the good twin".  They are so cute!  And Emma is getting so big, and will soon be an older sister.  I didn't take any pictures this weekend, sorry.

On Monday, mom and dad took me out to lunch and then left.  Poor Russell has had to work, spring break for normal people.  Then we had Bible study, normally on Tuesdays, but we changed for some reason that I can't remeber now.  Today was my LOST marathon day.  Because of the Olympics I got behind, and so I watched 6 episodes today.  Tomorrow entails me getting my grading done, and packing to get ready for New York.  More about that next week after we get back!

SPRING BREAK!!!!!!

Need I say more?

I don't, but I will.  Yay so finally after a pretty stressful week at school, it is spring break!!!  I feel bad that I have my kids a quiz today, but let's face it they aren't going to remember it if we did it after spring break.  They don't even remember wht they did five minutes ago.  haha.

At about 2:50 I was out the door- yes I brought stuff home, but I don't mind doing work at home (mainly grading), some people were there trying to get their grading done so they don't have to do it over the break.  Progress report grades are due Monday when we get back at 12:30. When I got home I was excited about the Aggie basketball game, they played Kansas in the semifinals of the Big 12 tournement.  They played a great 30 minutes, leading the whole time, but the last 10 minutes were ugly.  Hopefully they do better in the NCAA tournement.

I am excited about spring break.  My parents are coming down tomorrow morning and staying until Monday.  During the week I am looking forward to sleeping in, and catching up on LOST.  I have about 5 episodes on the DVR still.  Also, I need to work on my Action Research Project for my Master's program.  April is quickly approaching when I will have to present it.  And on Thursday we will head up to New York to see Russell's grandparents.  Should be a fun week!

Happy Anniversary to us!!!

Yesterday was our first year anniversary. I can't believe it’s already been a year. In some ways it seems like it flew by and other times it just feels like another year, we have been together for over 5 now. We celebrated big time by really deep cleaning the bathrooms- spraying, super scrubbing, moping, windexing, laundry. Haha. It had been awhile and the other day I noticed it was getting mildew-y. And once you notice it it’s hard to ignore it.

After the excitement of cleaning the bathrooms wore off we went out to eat at Johnny Carino’s. I know some of you might be thinking why didn’t you go to On The Border, they did cater your wedding. Well, we had just gone there on Thursday with Cody, so we decided to change it up. We also had some of our cake. And surprisingly, after a year in the freezer, it tasted ok. And we also had some champagne, also a year old from the wedding.

Thanks to everyone who wished us a happy anniversary, we are truly blessed to have found each other.

Longest Week EVER!

Well what I thought would be short week turned out to be the longest week ever. Or at least it felt like it. One of the most boring things, and should be used a torture devise, is to watch people take a TAKS test. I had the slow people in my class. And even though in the TAKS manual (yes I read it) that they can read after they are done, our school said no, they had to wait until the whole room is done. So some kids finished by 9, and had to wait until 11:50 when the last person in my room had finished, and actually applauded when he did. And by that time we were only 5 minutes away of sending him down to late testing. So a good 2 hours that kids would actually read, and want to read, they couldn’t. They all had To Kill A Mockingbird, because that’s what they are reading in English right now.

I had my formal observation on Friday with the principal. He came into my 3rd period, which is my ESL class. I think it went well. We finished notes, and did a hands-on assembly line activity (because we are studying the Industrial Revolution). I guess I will find out what he has to say next week when I meet with him.

I got my scores back from my PPR test, and I passed! YAY. So come May when I graduate, it I will be all certified as well. Now just to graduate in May I need to start working on my research project… maybe over Spring Break. Lol.

We got to hang out with a lot of friends this week. We went to dinner with Cody on Thursday night. And on Morgan and Cohlby came over last night. Cohlby bought a motorcycle so he came over to show it off. Tonight we are going to dinner with Kathy and Max (Russell’s parents). Only one more week until Spring Break!! I’m excited, and mom and dad are coming next weekend! It’s been awhile since we have seen them (over a month), so it will be fun. Can’t wait!
