Journey

So I had the great privilegde of going with the Lakepointe youth to camp this past week.  Jeremy texts me and says "so I know I didn't go to your graduation, but do you tihnk you want to go to camp".  After giving him a hard time about not going to graduation, I agreed to a free trip to the beach (I mean who wouldn't).  We were already going to be up in Dallas for my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary party, so it worked out.  Russell drove back to Houston by himself and I loaded up for the 12 hour bus ride to Orange Beach Alabama.  We had lots of fun in Alabama, every morning we would go to a local church and had amazing worship and small group, then rec time.  After lunch we would have free time at the beach.  The condos we stayed at had both an indoor and outdoor pool, as well as it was right on the beach.  And then after dinner we would go back to the church for more worship, preaching by David Nassar, who is very good, and then small group time again.  The beach was not closed until Thursday, and we left Friday morning, so it didn't affect us too much.  But even ealy in the week, you could see oil bead up on you if you went into the ocean.  It's crazy to think that the oil spill has been going on for a month and a half now with no end in sight.  I had a great time but was definitely ready to get home after a week away.  Thanfully Jeremy and the church paid for my flight back, so I didn't have to drive.

Last Day of School

Well it is officially summer!!  June 2nd was the last day with kids, and the teachers last day was the 3rd.  I really enjoyed my semester at Creek and will be sad to leave.  For those of you that don't know, I have been put on the "excess list" which is exactly like it sounds, there is an excess of teachers at Creek that the budget cannot support.  So I have been guaranteed a job within the district, it ust might not be where I want or what grade level and subject I want.  Which I'm not too picky so I'm just happy that I have a job.  Luckily  my whole school si getting remodeled and so everyone is moving classrooms for next year, so everyone was packing up their rooms, so that made it a little less embarassing.  I had pretty good kids this year I had 96% passing on the TAKS test (98% if you don't count my ESL kids) and I had 43% commended.  I can't wait for next year, wherever that might be to have kids for the whole year!  I'll keep you posted on my whereabouts for next year, but for now I will enjoy the perks of my job that give me 2 months off!!!
