The Sun Sets on Summer

As I write this my summer is officially over.  I head back to work tomorrow..... which means alarm clocks.  BOOOOOO!!!  I kinda liked still getting paid every two weeks while doing nothing! lol

We have had a pretty uneventful last few weeks of summer, but have had some wonderful guests.  Heather came to visit us a few days after I came back from Tennessee.  It was great hanging out with her because she has been gone for two years.

Last weekend mom and dad came to visit us.  On Saturday morning dad and Russell went and played golf.  Mom and I  met Amanda (who now lives in Houston!!!) at Ikea. Somehow we made it out of there without spending any money.  I think each of us at one time or another had something, but since it it's such a huge sture it gives you a long time to talk yourself out of it.  Amanda decided to spend the night with us and go to church with us on Sunday.  So on Saturday night we went to Red Lobster, which there isn't one really near us but the cheddar biscuits were calling my name.  Since we were closer to Russell's work we went by it, and then we went by my school. and got Connies Custard.  So we definitely took a tour de Houston, or at least the McCarthy's bubble of Houston.

On Wednesday Leslie came down to visit us.  She has a 12 day break from nursing school and so we were honored for her to spend some time down here.  She left on Friday and had lunch in College Station with a friend, and I decided to join her.  It's only an hour away, and apparently Rosa's is worth it, well maybe it was Leslie that was worth it.

On Friday Russell finally joined me on the racketball court, he still beat me but we had a lot of fun and it was very competitive.  We were supposed to met up with Larua and Bill (Laura is the one i have been playing with, and Bill her husband works with Russell), however, Bill was still working at his church, so the three of us played on Saturday.  It was still lots of fun.  And today has been just church, laundry, and tv... just like every Sunday.  I"m trying to mentally prepare myself for tomorrow, it will be the same until June 2nd, 2011...

  1. I like your blog title. We enjoyed our visit with you and I know Leslie did as well. I hope this school year is as good as if not better than last spring. You're a great teacher. We're proud of you!
